The indoors location is now closed permanently. We are now offering outdoor conditioning, boxing classes and kids programs.
It all started in 2013 in a small gym called East End boxing. I fought my first fights with this gym, well before it was called Rival Boxing gym Cochrane.
Through the years he gym grew with the community and moved to 122, Fifth Avenue location in December 2017. In December 2018 the first owner Craig Wilson left for the amazing opportunity to represent Rival in Australia and I took over. I have been a competitive boxer, a coach, a business partner and finally the owner of this gym.
You can imagine how attached I am to this place.
It has been years of serving the community,. I took kids and adults to tournaments, representing our gym and our town all over the province. Three years of hosting boxing charity events for local organizations have also been part of our identity as a small business and sport club, we are proud to bring boxing to everyone and change people's lives for the greater good.
Today, with a very heavy heart I have to close the doors of my gym. The last 12 weeks of forced closure and a combination of other factors have been too stressful for the business to recover and reopen in Stage 2.
I want to thank all of you who have been part of this journey, you have allowed me to share my passion for boxing and I can only hope that you may have learned a thing or two in the process. To all of you who participated in the boxing events, know that your commitment was meaningful and will never be forgotten. To the kids who discovered and fell in love with the sport of boxing in my gym , remember that I am so proud of you. Keep your hands up, be strong and be kind.
I am confident that boxing in Cochrane is not over. It is a setback, we are living unprecedented times and I need some time before coming back stronger.
In the meantime, let's take advantage of the season to meet outside and keep up with our training!
